What’s the best way to see sea life in Puerto Aventuras?
Without a doubt, it's with Calypso Charters. Our private catamaran takes you beyond the crowds to the region’s top snorkel spots, where you’ll experience the reef in comfort and style. It’s the most peaceful and personalized way to see sea turtles, reef fish, and more—all under the guidance of our experienced crew.
What should I bring on my charter?
We recommend bringing:
• Biodegradable sunscreen
• A light cover-up or extra layer (it can get breezy at sea)
• Motion sickness relief if you're prone to seasickness (Dramamine or similar)
• Tip money for the crew (10% is the recommended rate and appreciated)
Everything else? We've got you covered.
What don’t I need to worry about?
With Calypso Charters, you can leave the planning to us. We provide:
• Towels
• Bilingual guides
• Safety equipment
• Transportation options (available upon request)
• A commitment to ecological and social responsibility
Where are you located?
We operate out of Marina Puerto Aventuras, just south of Playa del Carmen in the heart of the Riviera Maya.
Do you operate in Cozumel?
No, we currently operate exclusively within the Playa del Carmen jurisdiction and do not offer trips to Cozumel.
Can you pick us up in Cozumel?
Unfortunately, we do not offer pick-up or service from Cozumel. Our private charters depart from Puerto Aventuras only.
Does the reservation include food and drinks?
Yes. Every charter includes a freshly prepared meal by our onboard chef, along with premium beverages and a curated menu.
Do you provide towels?
Yes, no need to pack your own—we provide soft, high-quality towels for all our guests.
Is the tip included?
No. Gratuity is not included in the charter price. Guests typically leave around 10% of the total as a tip for the crew.
What kind of marine life can we see while snorkeling?
You may spot sea turtles, stingrays, vibrant reef fish like sergeant majors, and other beautiful species in the Mesoamerican reef system.
Do you offer transportation?
Yes, we offer round-trip transportation for an additional fee. Please inquire during booking.
Is this activity safe for children?
Absolutely. We welcome guests of all ages and provide life jackets for children and adults alike.
What if I don’t like the menu?
No problem at all. We offer a full menu of additional options and can tailor your meal based on your preferences.
Do you have vegetarian options?
Yes, we do. Vegetarian meals are available and can be selected during the booking process.
Can you provide gluten-free meals?
Yes, we are happy to accommodate gluten-free diets. Just let us know in advance and we’ll make the necessary arrangements.
Do you provide snorkel gear?
Yes. Snorkel equipment is included, and we have sizes available for all guests.
Is this activity safe for pregnant women?
Yes, the charter itself is safe. However, we do not recommend snorkeling for pregnant guests. Participation is at your discretion and your own responsibility.
How long are the charters?
We offer private sailing experiences of 3,4, 5, or 8 hours. Each includes food, drinks, snorkeling, and the stunning beauty of the Riviera Maya.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept:
• Cash (USD or MXN)
• All major credit cards
• PayPal
Are there any extra fees for paying with a card?
Yes, there is a 3% surcharge when paying with a credit card or PayPal.
Is there a dock fee?
Yes. There is a mandatory $15 USD dock fee per person, payable on the day of your charter.
Can I bring a DJ?
No, we do not allow DJs onboard. However, our sound system is available and we’re happy to help you create the perfect playlist for your charter or allow you to connect your own device and/ or playlist.
Do you offer fishing onboard?
No, we specialize in luxury leisure and snorkeling experiences. Fishing is not permitted on any of our charters.
