NORTHERN SARDINIA & WEST COAST CORSICA (10 day Cruice)

Day 1 Fly into Olbia before a 30 minute taxi ride along the coast to join your yacht in the Old Port off Porto Cervo. Straight out to anchor near the Cala di Volpi where the water is the clearest blue and the beach the whitest white.

Day 2 Having spent a calm night at anchor, next is a short cruise to the island of Tavalara, a high granite iland that overlooks this north-east coast. Stay here for a night anchored in a tranquil bay.

Day 3 A trip to the Grotto of the Sea Ox is recommended. It is about 4-5 hours each way so an early start is necessary. There are a series of caves & beaches to explore by tender. A trip back to Porto Cervo is advisable, either at anchor in the charming Bay of Pevero next door, or into the port. This is a shopping paradise with all the big names a stone's throw away from each other in a lovely village that seems to have been there forever!

Day 4 & 5 After the high life one can take a rest for a day. Lunch at Tahiti Bay with its beautiful, tiny beach, clear deep water and high cliffs. Stay overnight in the Bay of Cala Portese for snorkelling, or on to Budelli for the day to experience the most wonderful shallow swimming. That night, anchor of Porto Rafael, the smallest of villages and have dinner ashore overlooking the yacht at anchor.

Day 6 On the way to Banifacio it is worth stopping for a swim at Isola Piana. Here one can walk from the mainland to the island, waist deep in glorious clear water, some of the clearest water in Corsica! Onward to Bonifacio through the high, wind-eroded limestone cliffs, with the Citadel teetering way above, into the centre of the town you wouldn't know existed! A visit to see the breathtaking views form the Citadel is a must.

Day 7 From Bonifacio we go north up the west coast to Campo Moro in the Gulf of Propriano. A large deep bay sheltered from all the prevailing westerly winds. Here, a day to relax and enjoy some water-sports.

Day 8 North again rounding the headland of Cap Rosso and into the Gulf of Porto to visit the old and charming town of Porto itself. From here onto the Bay of Girolata where at the head lies the village of Girolata. Langouste lovers may like to try the restaurant Le Bel'Ombre which is famous for its locally cought langouste.

Day 9 & 10 Cruising out of the Bay the scenery is breathtaking. Around Cargalo Point and to anchor in the Bay of Elbo. Take some snorkel-gear to explore the many caves and inlets of the area. From here on to Calvi, a fun loving seaside town. Al long sandy beach stretches for miles from the edge of the town, which is filled with sea front bars and restaurants all overlooking by the impressive Citadel. A fitting en to a ten day cruise!
